“One belongs to New York instantly, one belongs to it as much in five minutes as in five years. ” –Tom Wolfe
I hold New York in a special place in my heart. The big apple has everything a girl could ask for-art, theater, fashion, shopping, patisseries among many. Roaming the streets of New York is an absolute pleasure for me.
On the second day, we sauntered down to the village and we came across a farmer’s market full of fresh fruit, crisp green vegetables, and a table full of just about any pie you can think of. I had my eye on a mini pecan pie, it was calling me but I was good-I didn’t buy it. Random functions just around the corner are just as ubiquitous as Duane Reades’ here-you never know what to expect here in New York.
Afterwards, we trekked to Chelsea in the New York heat and discovered a fruit smoothie stand and bought the most amazing mango and strawberry smoothies ever. Sooo refreshing! Next, we jaunted on up to Sheep’s Meadow in Central Park. Will and I both love walking aimlessly exploring and scouting stores, restaurants, landmarks and old haunts we used to hang when we lived here. It was kind of like a trip down memory lane. So many things changed and yet remained the same.
We really enjoyed our mini summer vacation in New York. I wish we could have stayed longer. Driving back from New York, I took a deep breath and glanced at the city in my rear view mirror and realized I left my heart in New York. Until next time…
